Description

Marrakech and its hinterland are the ideal backdrop for an exotic getaway that lacks neither contrasts nor exoticism, just a few hours from France. After crisscrossing the bustling souks and shaded patios of the Red City, you can't resist the urge to get some fresh air in the great outdoors. Answer the call of the foothills of the High Atlas, whose fertile valleys will relax the body and delight the eyes. The red paths that run through the Ougangan region are indeed ideal for hikes through holm oak forests and olive groves. Below, the Agafay desert magically closes this Moroccan getaway which concentrates the three most beautiful faces of the kingdom: medina, mountains and desert

A very nice trip open to families (children from 8 years old).

Days 1 and 2: MARRAKECH

Already, when you land in Marrakech, the views of the Atlas are there ... But before setting off for the mountains, you will put your suitcases in the heart of the medina, in a charming riad where you feel at home. Hammam and souks are just a few steps away, while the famous Jemaa el-Fna square can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot. Marrakchis monuments are essential jewels. The view of the Koutoubia minaret is iconic, as are the zellige interiors of the Ben Youssef madrasah and the Bahia palace. On the garden side, the former home of Jacques Majorelle is a picture of chlorophyll green ... and Majorelle blue, of course! The atmosphere is much more lively in the souks, the ideal place to discover the small trades of the medina, to bargain for souvenirs but also to appreciate the fruit and vegetable stalls straight from the Atlas. If you thought you knew everything or had seen everything of the Red City, our private guide will prove you the opposite in the alleys of Bab Taghzout. You will be surprised to find that they have kept a lifestyle similar to that of Moroccan villages. Here, the goods of the market are spread out on the ground, the golden bread in a traditional oven, the pious objects are revealed in the old souk of the passementiers. A passage by the zaouïa of Sidi bel-Abbès is essential as much for its superb architectures as for the devotion of its faithful.

Goodbye the waves of tourists and the backfires of the mopeds of Marrakech, hello the serenity and the greenery of the High Atlas. It is on its foothills, at an altitude of almost 1,000 meters, that your hostel is located. The welcome is warm, Berber hospitality obliges, the garden is embellished with olive and rose trees and the views of the mountains are most pleasant. It is on foot that the Ouirgane region is best appreciated. Many hiking trails lead through Berber villages, terraced crops, exceptional natural spaces. Toubkal National Park is particularly popular with walkers for its variety of climates and therefore vegetation, as well as for its rich fauna. The king of animals is the sheep! You can also just stroll along the shores of Lake Ouirgane, between holm oaks and junipers. The Moroccan mountain, it wins you over…

Days 5 to 7 : AGAFAY DESERT

approx. 90 km - approx. 1h45
A whole new setting and a whole new atmosphere await you in the Agafay desert. So much so that the Atlas Mountains seem far away? Not quite because their silhouettes still stand out on the horizon! The address we offer is an oasis in the middle of this region, where you sleep in tents with the stars for your only company. Agafay is far from being a monotonous desert. Rock gardens are followed by stretches of undergrowth and gentle dune-like hills, so many landscapes that you can admire during a half-day ride with a guide. The journey will be on foot, in silence disturbed only by the wind and the sound of your steps. An invitation to contemplation and disconnection ... The return will be on the back of a dromedary, the preferred means of transport for Berbers of yesterday and today. On the 8th day, transfer to Marrakech (around 45 min drive) then return flight .
