Taroudant & accommodations
Located east of Agadir and the High Atlas, Taroudant is a small fortress protected by a nearly 8-kilometer-long wall.
The construction of this part of the Kasbah, nicknamed the Great Wall, began during the Saadi era, around 1515. With a height of 8-1 meters, pierced with 5 gates (Bab El Khemis, Bab Al-Kasbah, Bab Targhount, Bab Zorgan and Baba Oulad Bounouna), and fortified with 19 bastions, the structure has long protected the fortress and is therefore inaccessible from the outside.
Despite the effects of time and attacks against the city walls, these fortresses are still magnificent. At sunset, the ramparts reveal their most beautiful beauty. Dusk accentuates the colors of the walls. At nightfall, the illuminated city and ramparts become the ideal setting for a romantic walk.
